Ruth Kanagy
Have you ever embarked on a solo adventure? Scared, but did it anyway? You may have heard of or walked the Camino in Spain. Unlike the Camino, the Henro Pilgrimage in Japan is a circular route visiting 88 Buddhist temples in the mountains and coast of Shikoku island.
Since 2015, Ruth Kanagy has biked and walked most of the 1200km/750-mile route. Through photos and videos, she will share her motivations to do the pilgrimage and the insights she gained.

Why not make your evening a full Japanese experience? Join Ruth at Issei Noodle, 38 W. Orange St, 5 pm, for an authentic Japanese house-made ramen or rice bowl. You have the option to register for the meal when you register for the event.

Ruth Kanagy, PhD, is the author of Moon Living Abroad: Japan (2017). Born and raised on both sides of the Pacific, she taught Japanese at the university level and led bicycle tours to Japan. She moved to Lancaster in 2022 to be closer to family. She has climbed Mt. Fuji, cycled the Camino del Norte, and biked and walked the 88 Temple Pilgrimage in Shikoku.

Please indicate in the conversation space below (NOT THE COMMENT SPACE WHEN YOU REGISTER) if you intend to join Ruth for dinner at Issei Noodle prior to her program.
