The Wetlands at Long’s Park, completed in 2023, is an innovative water treatment system that improves the health, habitat value and appearance of Long’s Pond.
This is an amazing installation right here in our backyard that you won’t believe until you see it. The “treatment train” of man-made (whoops: person-made) wetlands is fed by runoff from nearby Route 30 as well water recirculated from Long’s Pond. After flowing through this series of ponds and wetlands, high quality water is returned to Long’s Pond.
Angela Brackbill, Water Resources Engineer for Lancaster City will give us an interpretative tour of the installation. Bring a picnic lunch and gather after the walk at a park picnic table. (Downtowners will provide beverage.) Or join the Downtowner Lunch Bunch at 12:15 at nearby Iron Hill. (Be sure to register for this event if you plan to go.
You will receive an email closer to the event with specific instructions as to where we will meet.

You will find additional information at the city's website about the wetlands.
